Omega Mart Turns 2!

It’s been two years since Omega Mart, by Santa Fe art collective Meow Wolf, opened at Area 15, and we still have no idea what the hell is going on inside the 52,000 square foot surrealist grocery store—aside from portals leading to another dimension of art-filled landscapes. But we love it and keep coming back for more! Now that we’ve brought cousin Mandy, aunt Sally and our neighbor Sal and his three kids here to visit, the mad scientists behind Meow Wolf are inviting us back to unveil new installations.

The Mega Art Zone, a floor-to-ceiling graffitied alcove, swirls with secrets, “Easter eggs” and two vending machines filled with mini art, enhancing the existing narrative of Omega Mart. Better yet, the space highlights home team talents by displaying the work of over 40 local Las Vegas artists.

While visiting Area 15, tipple across the parking lot to Lost Spirits Distillery for the new Seance Room experience. The show features a spooky space in which the host and guests attempt to conjure the soul of Thomas Edison using museum artifacts from his life. Sharing the spotlight with the founding father of mass communication are acrobats, contortionists, clowns, magicians, snake charmers, sword swallowers, burlesque dancers, talking furniture, animated dolls, two doves, an electrocuted potato, one house cat and one welcome cocktail.

Since there are so many attractions to see at Area 15 such as Wink World’s Psychedelic Art House, Haley’s Comet indoor hang gliding, the Lift Off Bar and Observation Ride, it is best enjoyed by purchasing a pass, which bundles these immersive wonders together. The Voyager Pass is $139 per guest for 10 experiences, The Explorer is $89 for eight and the Seeker is $49 for four. If you want the 21+ experience come after 7 p.m. and snag the Adventurer, a five-pack bundle for $119. omegamart.com
